Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

Overview

UkuBuddy is a ukulele companion. Its music features — tuner, chords, songbook, metronome, ear training and lessons — run on your device. This policy explains what the app keeps on your device and what the advertising, purchase and analytics services in the Android version process.

Information We Collect

We do not ask for your name, email address or an account, and the app never records or uploads microphone audio.

The Android version includes the third-party services listed under "Third-Party Services" below. They process device and usage data in order to show ads, handle purchases, measure how the app is used and report crashes. The iOS version does not include these services.

Microphone Access

The app requests microphone permission solely for the tuner and pitch detection features. Audio is processed entirely on-device using local algorithms (Fast YIN and an on-device ONNX neural network). No audio data is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Local Data Storage

The app stores your content (such as favorites, songs, settings, learning progress, and custom patterns) locally on the device. The app does not upload this content; it leaves the device only if you export a backup file yourself.

Backup & Restore

Users can export and import backup files (.json). These files are handled entirely locally and are never sent to any server.

Third-Party Services

The Android version of UkuBuddy uses the following services. Each one processes data under its own privacy policy.

• Google AdMob (advertising) — shows ads in the app. It processes the advertising ID, device and app information, IP address (which indicates approximate location), and how you interact with ads. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Play Billing and RevenueCat (purchases) — if you buy Premium, Google Play processes the payment and RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history for this app so that Premium can be unlocked and restored. We never receive your card details. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — record app usage events, device model, operating system version, an app instance identifier, and crash reports, so we can understand how the app is used and fix problems.

The iOS version of UkuBuddy does not use advertising, purchase, analytics, or crash reporting services.

Children's Privacy

UkuBuddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Permitted OS Handoffs

The app may also hand off to the operating system when you ask it to. These include:

• Store review requests (via Google Play In-App Review or StoreKit)
• Sending feedback through your own email app
• External links in open-source license screens
• Share sheets for sharing chord diagrams or song exports
• Local backup import/export

Ads & Monetization

UkuBuddy is free to download. The Android version shows ads and offers an optional Premium upgrade — a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase — that removes ads. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play. The iOS version has no ads and no purchases.

Your Choices

• You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
• Buying Premium removes ads from the app.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Google Play.
